I posted a while ago and everyone said to test the amp gauge in the car. I put 200 milivolts too it since it wasn't working in the car and it still didn't work. I then tested the car running it reads 35-50 milivolts, with the accessories on. With the car shuttoff it reads around -100 (all accesories on). It appears to me that that the wiring is probably good. Does anybody have any input before I put in a new gauge and possibly destroy it? Thanks

Do you have continuity thru the meter? Make sure the gauge face is not bent and touching the needle so the needle can move. Voltage readings sound about right so the wiring appears to be intact and working from the underhood terminals to the gauge, assuming your getting those readings at the gauge terminals.

The voltage was measured at the terminals without the gauge installed, the gauge reads open with an ohm meter. Thanks

Gauge is toast then. Some one probably tried to wire it in series with the alternator and smoked it.
