The Accel 300+ box I installed years ago was a big improvement but it disabled the stock tach. Luckily I know the car so well that I can hit my shift points pretty accurately but I really want to fix the tach. Accel techs had no good advice when I talked to them.

I got info from a guy who sounded like he really knew what he was talking about & had done the fix. He said to find the stock tach filter, remove it, & the tach would work. I've crawled under the dash but haven't even come close to finding it.

First of all, does this make sense to those of you who have knowledge in this area? Secondly, if so where the heck is the stock filter & what does it look like?

If it doesn't make sense do any of you guys know how I can fix this? Any help would be much appreciated.

The stock filter looks like a points distributor condensor with a wire coming out both ends. It's usually mounted on the firewall. MSD sells two tach adapters #8910 and 8920 to correct this problem with their ignition systems. Maybe Accel sells something similar. I tried checking Accel's website, but the server is down.

12run,
Thanks for checking. I found Accel's email techline & hit em up- maybe during the last 4-5 years they've found an answer. By the way, there's nothing on the firewall but with your description maybe I can spot it in the maze of wiring under the dash. If Accel is clueless I'll see if one of the MSD adapters will work for me.
