i'm converting a stock camaro to a hidaway lights frt end i really don't understand what the diode on the ign. has to do with the set up.
Without the diode i have pwr going to the relays the doors open when key is on and light swich is off. With the diode in i only get pwr to diode and it stops the connection from firewall the brn wire has no pwr.

Perhaps your diode is in backwards. Your diode should be wired so current flows from the ignition to the relays. Check this web page out it explains diode testing and reading well. http://jag-lovers.org/lumps/tech/basics/diode.htm
