: Blinkers going going gone
goatjj Jan 24th, 01, 06:24 PM I have a 67 camaro 327 RS. My blinkers are stopping on me. Where is the blinker assembly located behind the tach? or do I have to install a whole new switch assembly. I've started removing the front dash.
trust me im no electricion
Geezer Jan 24th, 01, 06:28 PM Did you try changing the little round can or the fuse panel? It's a blinker relay.

goatjj Jan 24th, 01, 06:31 PM I changed the flasher on the fuse box, thinking it operated my turn signals. There was no change.
H-dog Jan 25th, 01, 03:50 AM goatjj,
Are you talking emergency flasher, or turn signal? On my 68, there is a seperate emergency flasher relay under the dash to the right of the instrument cluster.

Mark C Jan 25th, 01, 04:10 AM Turn signal flasher is mounted on a dash support brace behind the dash, just to the right of the instrument carrier, and left of car centerline.
Emergency Flasher is mounted on the fuse panel.

goatjj Jan 25th, 01, 08:52 AM To replace the turn signal flasher, do I have to remove the instument panel to get to it?Or is there an easyer way.
Mike67RS Jan 25th, 01, 11:52 AM Goat, I have my instrument panel and dash guages out right now. The two wires for the flasher exit the wiring harness behind the radio and towards the drivers side of the car. They are purple and brown, thick guage wires that end at the flasher. My flasher hangs loose, but I doubt that is factory?? You should be able to look and or reach under the dash just right of center to locate the wires and flasher. The flasher just pulls off from the plug. You may need to reach up to the brace Mark described. Good luck, if you need anything else while my dash is apart let me know.

rs1968ss Jan 25th, 01, 12:33 PM The flasher is located just to the right of the steering column as seated in the car. It is right at the bottom of the dash and no you do not have to remove anything to get to it. If you just look up under the dash you should see it.

Scoop69RS-SS Jan 26th, 01, 04:38 AM My '69 RS-SS is in storage for the winter so I cannot jump in and look at this to answer it for myself.
My turn signals work, but do not flash. I had thought I had replaced it until I read the message string.
Is the turn signal flasher location for the 69 the same location as described here for the 68?
I drove my car all summer and fall with no inspection sticker because of that foolish turn signal flasher problem.
I carried receipts for all the work I did to talk my way out of a ticket.
I can't wait to get my car out of storage.

Mark C Jan 26th, 01, 04:55 AM Yes, maybe up a little higher under the dash, but definately seeable, reachable looking up under the drivers side of the dash, unless you have A/C which makes it a little tougher to get at, but not impossible. It is essentially behind the Heater Control panel, maybe 1/3 of the way up from the lower edge. Just need to reach around behind the A/C duct behind the gauge cluster.

Scoop69RS-SS Jan 26th, 01, 05:21 AM Thanks much. Yes, I have A/C. It might even work in a year or two.
Rick.
