I was drivng home from work today, and my 67 just shut off. No electrics at all. No lights, ignition, nothing. My car is a stock 67RS with a pertronix in it. No other electrical modifications from stock. Yes, I checked to see if the battery cables and grounds were hooked up at both ends. The battery is good. Is there a master fuse somewhere that controlls all of the electrical system? Do 67's have 'brain' modules? Mine is a Van Nuys car built in November '66 and was built for Washington State, so it doesn't have smog either, not that it would be an issue here, but I'm trying to include all the info I can. Does anyone have any ideas?

There should be a 10 gauge wire that attaches to the positive battery terminal. Start there and work your way back to the bulkhead on the firewall. There may be a terminal on the radiator support on the pass. side near the battery. There's another connection on the horn relay on the driver's side support. The bulkhead connection can sometimes work loose also. Make sure all these connections are clean and tight.

Could be fuseable link at horn relay or link at 12gauge wire coming of battery. Also check connections at bulkhead connector at firewall

Now here's something weird. I went down to the garage to tinker on it, opened the door, and everything works. Starts right up and every thing works as it always did. So I'm pretty sure it's not a wiring issue. Does a voltage regulator do this when it begins to break down? Is it hooked into everything?

kinda sounds like a lose batery cable or dirty post maybe.

My buddy had a '64 'vette that used to do this sometimes. We found out that the terminal for the heavy red wire in the firewall bulkhead connector had turned green and was intermittently becoming open! This wire feeds all the power to the interior of the car.

i'm with pdquick on this. i would almost bet if you follow the wire from the batt. to the bulkhead connector, then on from there, you'll find a corroded or loose connection. give it all a darn good once over.

High current circuits, like the ones the guys have mentioned, can be particularly funky because they will weld together and then break loose again.

I had a similar experience. Driving an all os a sudden everything goes. No lights, no power, no nothing. Traced the hot wire to the fire wall behind the fuse box . Turned out to be the connection, got it repaired an havent had any problem.
