View Full Version : GEN light off with ignition on

I've just replaced my faulty regulator with a new piece, but when I turn the ignition key to the on position the GEN light remains off. When I start the engine there's nothing wrong on the dash and everything seems to run well. If I unplug the alternator the light comes on normally.

What are your ideas on what's wrong?

Thanks,

Jorge

I'd start by taking a voltage reading on the brown voltage regulator connector wire with the key on, engine off, and voltage regulator connector off. See if you have 12 volts at that point. That will tell you if everything under the dash is OK. Same thing I suggested here (even though I still haven't helped figure this one out). http://www.camaros.net/forum/Forum10/HTML/000986.html

Thanks John.

I'll try to check that one later tonight and will let you know.

Yeah, if I keep this up I'm going to get that free plastic chromed valve cap. Heard they give them away after a certain number of responses.

John,

Replaced diodes, cleaned all connections, checked regulator with a friend of mine and everything is working right.

Thank you for your help.
