Can someone e-mail me a pic of the back of the original GM console gauges? I have a set up in pieces that needs to go back together.


Is the amp gauge repairable/rebuildable?

Thanks for the pics. Rick's catalog has the reproduction gauges showing not the GM gauges. There is a statement say they are different.

Originals have a fuel and temp resistor, the repo's don't have it.

Click...Thanks for the pics. I have several more questions. Other then the obvious ground on the wire harness connected to the fuel gauge I have one more ground inside the housing that connects the two metal plates the gauges are attached to. Is this correct or are there any more grounds? Also I noticed that you have a metal strap of sorts that holds your low fuel light sender in place. I don't have that. My Z is a guage car as well.

Gary yes there is a connector ground wire on my guage set as well, connecting the 2 pods. Im sure to keep the grounds in place. The strap you see holding my low fuel unit is actually a piece of my floor sound deadening/insulation that I put down under my new carpet. Its somewhat rubbery with alum. foil on one side and sticky on the black side that goes down. I just snipped a piece of it from my roll and used it to hold my low fuel unit tight to the case so it doesnt flop around. Im not sure but Ive never seen any type of clamp, I think the original way was for them to just lay inside there. Maybe mark C or Kurt or others have an idea on that part of it.

The way you have it looks clean and out of the way. I think, from what I have gathered doing a search on the subject here on T.C. one end was stuck in that center hole like a light socket. Some are confused thinking there should be a bulb there but shouldn't.

The low fuel module does snap in that hole. In click's pic, the hole has alum tape over it.

Repro low fuel light units don't have the lamp socket on the end of them. If yours was replaced with a repro unit don't bother pulling your console out because ou won't be able to plug it into the hole. If it's original, then you should be all set.
