When i turn on my headlights with the car running, the inside dash lights-speedo and gas guage-are dim,the turn signal arrows and high beam light are bright even though none of them are on, and my gas guage needle drops to empty. I have no extra wires hooked up anywhere. Before i did the engine swap 6 to 8cyl.all lights worked fine. I did change the alternator from a 37 to 60 amp-same wiring and same voltage regulator. Any ideas on why this is happening? Thanks JIm.

A good place to start is to check all of the grounds, under the hood as well as under the dash.

is your new alt internally regulated? I'd look close at a diagram to make sure nothing else is diff from the six cyl. harness.

I had similar Problem on rewiring a 90RS it was a loose ground on one of the two plugs that plug into the back of the bezel in the dash. Good luck.

Check what you know is a new addition, The
alternator, Try Checking the ground, then removing one wire at a time, It does seem
as if you are getting some bleed through of
power, Make sure all connections are clean and take it one step at a time, Good luck.

I have a car with the same problem. Did you ever find out what the culprit was, and if so what was it? Thanks.
