I heard that Hurst makes a backup light micro switch that works off your shifter. Does anyone know where I can find this complete switch assembly? And how does it work? I don't like the Neutral Safety Switch setup. Thanks!

I solved that problem by spending a little over two grand and putting a Tremec 5-speed in. It has a reverse light switch built into the tranny. You mean I could have just bought a switch? http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

I installed one of these switches when I swapped out my turbo 350 for an M20. The switch mounts to the rear travel adjustment bolt on the shifer. When you shift into reverse the lever depresses the switch, closing the contacts, and turning on the lights.

I got mine at Rick's 1st Gen. Go here to their catalog on page 91. Part number is HCP-7.

The switch I have came from Rick's as well.

I used the rear plate from a spare aftermarket Hurst shifter on my factory Hurst shifter assy as the aftermarket plate is interchangeable with the factory piece and has the required shifter stop bolts to mount the switch. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I bought the same part as Spitfire44 and installed it the same way. The mounting of the part wasn't bad at all, and I ran the wires up through the console, under the dash to the column where I connected the wires. Works Great! Good Luck, Donnie...

What about the wiring for the backup switch? I have the plug that comes out under the wiper motor. Is there a wiring harness, or just build my own?
