I am about to put my tank back in the car. The sending unit was not working before but I found that it was not connected. Before I reinstall my tank, how can I find out if it is working or not.

The car is still just a body waiting for the engine to be done.

You should be able to use a ohm meter and check the resistance. I believe full is 90 ohms and empty is 0 ohms. Just hook up the meter and slide the sender.

You can just ground the sender and turn your key on, then move the float up and down and watch you gas gauge.
