View Full Version : Probably very easy starting question

Having trouble starting my 99 SS: everything perfect for three years, and then the battery went dead after the wife drove it one night.

I jumped it but it didn't seem to turn over as quick as other cars I've had after the jump... it didn't seem to really take the charge.

Now, even after driving it for over an hour, the battery doesn't appear to be charged and it's tough getting it started - it turns over very slowly and then catches after 4-5 seconds, sometimes even after it starts ticking.

While it's running everything is okay.

I know it's probably a basic question for you all, but I appreciate the help.

Sounds like the battery has gone bad. If it hasn't been replaced, it'd be about due. Your probably just starting to get cold weather, and that's when a shaky battery usually gives out.

Tell your wife she broke it, and make her buy a new one.

Hey, thanks for the tips (and great idea about blaming The Wife; that way it doesn't come out of my beer money!)
