Well what I did was made a mounting plate out of aluminum and mounted it above the glove box using the front top glove box screws with 1/4 inch bolts instead. I than cut out part of the glove box and mounted my MSD digital 6 on the bottom side of of the plate in glove box area and ran all the nessisarry hookk ups into the glove box from the side. I can still use the left side of the box as I only cut enough to get the MSD box inside.
Hope this helps,
Mike

Do you have an automatic car? If so, check out the cover plate for the clutch push-rod. It's just to the left of the opening for the steering column. Great place for a wire bundle to go through. There is lots of room under the dash on those 68s. Look just above the hump for one place. You might be able to attach it to the brake pedal assembly somehow. The glove box area is also a great place as Mike mentioned.

Man! You just made my life easier...I have a "former" standard shift car that I converted, and it NEVER occured to me to route the cables through the clutch linkage hole....duh! I was just thinking last night about where to drill the new hole.......thanks! No new holes drilled in the firewall.......

I mounted mine in front of the console. If you have one, it hides it but make it easy to get to the wires to hookup to the laptop.
