i got a new battery today, upgraded to more cranking amps. so i installed new positive and negative battery cables while i was in there too, positive cable was looking kind of crusty. hooked everything up, now gen light is on with no key. i had the same problem a few months ago, but it was the alternator, replaced it with a new AC Delco. i believe the test for that was to unplug the harness from the back of the alternator and the gen light would go out. tried that just to rule out the alternator, gen light still on. any ideas what it could be?

Check down at the starter and make sure the new cable you installed isn't touching either of the other two small wires, mainley the yellow wire.

Did you hook up a good ground from the negative on the battery to the passenger fender???? I know that if this is not hooked up, my car's idiot GEN light will stay on!!

positive cable was touching the yellow wire post on the starter. i turned the cable away from the post and i also took the rubber insulator sleeve off the old cable and slid it over the new, just in case. i love this site, thanks guys graemlins/thumbsup.gif
