On my 69, in the engine bay, up toward the front left, I have a group of nine wires which exit the factory taping.

Four wires go to the voltage regulator; four go the horn relay.

The ninth is a red wire with a black stripe, approx 16 guage, and a factory plastic clip which is not connected to anything.

Can someone tell me what this wire is for???

Thanks in advance.

About the only thing that I can think of is the key warning buzzer, which plugs into the bottom of the horn relay. Might be for the underhood light, but wire for that should have a screw on type connector.

hook up a test light to it, and see when it has power. that might help narrow down what it's for, or what you can use it for.

It's the key buzzer wire - plugs into the bottom of the horn relay.

Is there heat insulation on this wire?

Kyvox and John Z...you're right...it's the key warning buzzer...which connects to the horn relay. Someone at some point disconnected it and taped it up.

Thanks!
