I started up my 87 camaro 305 yesterday, when it was 15 degrees out, and the temp gauge was maxed out at 800 degrees. I was wondering if i need a new thermostat?

WOW!!! Your engine is really HOT! http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif No, seriously, sounds more like your temp sending unit is out. depending on the circuit, if you measure across it, it will either be a dead short or wide open.
