My car wouldn't start, and I was totally boggled. The car had power, but when I turned the key, there was nothing. My ignition lock isn't in prime shape, (any key will work). I believe the wiring is to blame, as one of the four wires that come out of the back of the lock was disconnected.
Any help or suggestions?

If you have verified that there is power then I would check for power at your ignition switch with a test light. If you do have power there, move on to the starter and check the wires to see if they are connected (not loose) or if they may have been burned by the exhaust. If everything looks ok then you can check the solenoid by crossing a long screwdriver across the two prongs on the solenoid where the wires connect(this isn't the safest way but the easiest for me) and see if it cranks over. If it does crank then it could be either your solenoid or your starter switch.

Don't rule out the ignition lock out switch on your shifter. Mine does that occassionally and I need to jiggle the shifter to get it to turn over.
