i have a 95 Z28 and when i went to install neon tubing inside where like the trunk is around my 10's and amp, when i was screwing back up the "trunk light"(the one at the top of the rear window and i had to use that as a power supply) i accidently screwed through the power wire and when the screw touched my roof everything "blew"(i think it was because my amp was grounded to the body and the stereo was on when it happened). instantly i unscrewed it and undid all the wiring. now my speakers just "hum" when you turn on the radio and none of my inside lights work. i checked all the fuses and replaced the ones that blew but that didn't solve it either. i dont really know that much about wiring so can someone help me? thanks

Is your radio stock or aftermarket? what brand? Does the radio still come on? did you lose all your preset stations? The only way the the Stereo and the interior lights could be linked is the constant power for the memory of the radio and the interior lights. Unless the wiring is really messed up. if your radio comes on, try this, set all your presets then turn the car off and let it sit for a while, then turn the car back on. Are the presets still programmed? if not the constant power wire is not working.
By drilling through that wire, you grounded it to the body. Usually if you fix the problem( take the screw out and tape up the wire) you should find that all it did was blow a fuse. you may want t double check your fuses again. Also, where is the constant 12 volts that powers your amps coming from? which speakers only HUM, the 10's or the stock speakers? let me know and we'll see if we can't solve this for you.-Radio Joe-

the radio is completly stock..except the pair of 10's...i took the wiring leading back to the two speakers from the two in the back passanger area and ran them to my amp...it still comes on but you can't turn it to a different station and you can hear any station. when you put in a tape you can just barely hear it with it turned all the way up but as you turn up the radio the hum noise stays the same...and all the wiring is still original expect the splice leading to the amp..and the amps power is coming directly from the battery.....

Try playing the radio without the amp. If it functions properly, then you'll know that the sound/volume problem is in the amp. Also, there may be fuses in other places than just the fuse panel ...such as in-line fuses ... or in the amp itself... and don't forget that there may be relays to check also... You appear to understand the basics, so you may want to get a Chilton or Haynes manual from Pep Boys or the library for an additional reference ... Good luck
