Hello -

My 67 has a slight problem. At idle, the lights dim and the turn signal slows down. I know it could be the voltage regulator but I'm preparing to install a rather large stereo system in this car so I figure an alternator upgrade is in order. The car is a 67 with a 250 L6. I would like to replace the alternator with one that would fix my dimming problem and allow me to add some accessories. Anyone done an upgrade or know where I could go to find one?

Check out my thread from around 11/22/03 called "Switching to 78 Amp 12 SI".
With just two plug in connections you can switch over to a much better internally regulated alternator and it keeps the existing wiring in place and warning lights functional. I also posted some great places to read up on exactly what is what and what works best and why. Like I stated, the toughest part was getting the old regulator out so I could scrap it!
