i was driving the other night and my engine light came on. i scanned it at home and it said the MAF sensor's signal voltage was low. i don't know how to adjust this. is it like adjusting the TPS? i have an 88 MFI. any help would be appreciated

There isn't an adjustment. Most likely it means your sensor is bad. But before assuming the worst, check for bad connections and possibly air leaks in the ducting. Follow the diagnostic procedures in your service manual which should tell how to check the sensor in-circuit. This is probably the best way to know what the root of the problem is. It wouldn't hurt to check the Throttle Position Sensor as well. I can imagine a condition where the engine thinks it should be sucking more air than it is based on an improper TPS reading. In summary, get a service manual and follow the troubleshooting trees. They should lead you to the problem.
