I do not really like the new format, especially when using the "Todays Active Topic" section. Is this new format just a trial or is it here to stay? What is everyone elses opinion?

I'll just say, not crazy about it. Was easier to scroll down the page to see "whats new".

I like it way better. It's easier to reply to a message. easier to see what posts you havent read. Just plain and simply better!! graemlins/beers.gif graemlins/hurray.gif

for better or worse, the upgrade can't be undone. We held off a long time before moving to this new version. The old one could no longer deal with the volume of requests and sheer number of posts.

The former what's new was a hacked script that searched each and every file whenever it was called, even with a fast server it was starting to pull the server down with all the posts we have. It was also randomly sorted. This new active topics shows forums with the post and a few words of the topic. I really find that comfy now. I always used to view the post only to see that I already read the last response, now I can tell in a quick look if there is a new answer or not.

There are some things which I have to type up that will help with using the new format. I tried to keep the overall look and effect of the forum as close to the old way as possible.

By upgrading to this new format the server is providing the files way faster than before and changes are immediate - all the post totals are constantly updated and correct and we can add in new features as they become available - I've heard the next 'big' feature is the ability to view all the forum in whatever time zone you have, that will be nice.

Say, have you tried a search? It's waay faster and more accurate than the old program, actually it makes searching almost fun. Viewing all the posts by one member is also quick and easy.

Try kicking the tires some more, I'd say it's going to be worth the ride.
