Many of you know who Dick Harrell is and what he was all about. What many do not know is that he has yet been inducted into the Drag Racing Hall of Fame. With the 16,000 + members here and and 20,000 + members over on Team Chevelle along with the 2,000 over on www.yenko.net (http://www.yenko.net) I would like to enlist all the members here help in letting the Drag Racing HOF voting members know that Mr Harrell should be included in the next class of inducties.

From SS&DI..Caption reads:

Dick Harrell was a funny car builder, an excellent driver, and one of the drag racing sport's very best ambassadors to the outside world. He won countless match races and major events, and was cited over and over again by the racing associations and the drag racing media for deeds on and off the drag strip. During his career, he built hundereds and hundreds of Chevrolet engines for customers at his Kansas City shop, and managed to create a full range of specially equipped and very exciting Chevrolet street cars when no one else would, because he believed in high performance cars for their own sake. His talent, creativity, and energy were legendary, and he will be remembered.

Dick Harrell deserves to be in the Drag Racing hall of Fame...it's long overdue....I would like to ask our members to take a minute to send each of these comittee members listed below an e-mail letting them know that we would like to see Mr.Chevrolet/Dick Harrell inducted to the HOF.

Dick Harrell is quite an interesting guy. He was a great drag racer with many accomplishments in racing but also has a lot to do with the history of the Camaro. Dick Harrell worked with Bill Thomas and Nickey Chevrolet in late 1966 and early 1967 when they were building and marketing the first 427 Camaros. Later in 1967 DH worked with Yenko Chevrolet building 1967 427 Camaros and running a Yenko sponsored Camaro Funny Car. In 1968 Harrell worked with Fred Gibb Chevrolet running a Gibb sponsored Funny Car and some Super Stock cars. DH helped design and race the first ZL1 Camaro. He also operated a large Dick Harrell Performance shop where they built race cars and hi po street cars from 1968 to 1971 including many 427 and 454 Camaros Chevelles Novas and V8 Vegas.
If there was a Camaro hall of fame Dick Harrell should be in that as well as any drag racing hall of fame.
here is a cool web site run by the Harrell family and friends with a bunch of great old pictures. http://www.dickharrell.com/
