I used some "no name insulation" from the swap meet that looked like aluminum foil that was wrapped around bubble wrap. It made the listing wires for the headliner hard to snap in, I just cut it around where the wire snaps in the clip. It made the headliner tight, meaning you can push on it and it makes it feel hard. I'm from Texas and it gets pretty hot and you can feel the difference when you touch the headliner. I also used it behind the door panels, sail panels under carpet, ect, cost me about $40 compared to $125 for Dynamat and it works just as good.

Eastwood offers a product called Dynomat, I didnt need it on my roof, but used it for my floor panels, It's adhesive backed, but I'd double check with them to make sure it sticks upside down
