From an older post:

I just replaced mine last weekend. It was from classic camaro, quality was good. I used a pair of needle nose and pressed at points all around the plugs pushed it towards the firewall until they fell through. It wasn't bad at all. Good luck. Pete

REM is the co. that repros it. Nice pad! You can get the old plugs out by pushing them thru with a screw driver, and pull the new ones thru with some pliers(just lube them up a bit first).

Ragtop Man - thanks for the suggestion. I ordered a firewall pad and ended up with the REPOP brand part. It is much more "spongey" than the original part and does not have the hard black coating the original had. In truth, it's not the best repro I have seen. It fit well but the material was different.

Who did you get yours from? I didnt care for the re-pop pad either just because of that spongey feel. The REM pad is more like the original.

I liked the REM pad, it fit nice for a re pop part. It will take a bit of work to get it in there especially where the heater box goes, but it will all stretch out. Mines been in now for several months and I personally think it looks great.

the heater box part was the easy part to get in. when i try to stretch it over to the drivers side its seems like its an inch short. the holes for the carpet firewall gaurd will not match up unless i stretch the heck out of it.

...strange. The one I put in was a nice fit. All the holes lined up fairly well, have you layed each pad on top of one another to see if there is much of a difference?

well unfortunatley the old pad is history(got thrown out by mistake)so i have nothing to match up. i just went out again today to see if i was doing something wrong, i have the heater box side in no problem but the drivers side will not even stretch to the kick panel(inch short or so). i guess ill return it to NPD and try another, thats why i was wondering if anyone else had luck with another brand. thanks again

No, lay the Re-pop brand on top of the REM brand(or visa versa) and see what kind of story they will tell. But I can say, my pad wasnt that short. If it was short, was by only 1/4 in. if that much.
