It's yucky here in Jeff City, MO. Over 3" on the ground when I got up this morning, and its still snowing like crazy out there. Temps supposed to get down into the low 20's tonight. :(
I guess my '78 1/2 ton falling apart on me this weekend was a good thing, otherwise I would have been stuck over 300 miles from home in a 2 wheel drive truck with a strong 350...which is pretty much useless in the slick stuff.

Kansas City got anywhere from 5" to 8" overnight. I had to clear about 7" off the driveway this morning. I didn't get to work until 10:00.
The crap is melting now though.

Travis, David, there are strict rules for the forums forbidding the use of vulgar and offensive language.

If you continue to use the word 'sn*w', I will have to report you!

Crazy. Every 4 wheel drive was in the ditch. People forget that 5000lbs takes a while to slow down.

I keep telling myself that I need to start getting in that winter driving mode. No more flooring it everywhere.... no more 70mph curves.... slowing down WAY before the intersection.... basically driving like Grandpa now.

None here (yet)...We have sideways rain and gusts up to 40 tonight with speckled power outages...I can see the local mountains off my back porch and they are all getting covered now. I hate driving in that crap!

None is Spokane either. I know its coming. I drove to Seattle Monday and I was surprised Snoqualmi pass was clear, no white stuff at all. I will be heading out there again next week for 10-12 days, I am sure that the passes will have snow by then. :(

Winter is here. We got about 5" with a pretty good Nor/West wind. A DC 10 slid off the runway about a quarter mile from the house last night. Everyone was OK. Just finished doing the drive. The shovels are in the garage close to the car so I peeked under the tarp again. Bird goes in in an hour. Family and friends should be here about noon. The Lions are on about 2:30.
Happy Thanksgivng Kevin

OK now.... SOMEONE had to start talking about snow, didn't they?!

The evil dust has begun to fall here this morning.... and I don't have any gas for the snow blower.

In preparing for the bad weather I was assigned to work the front desk yesterday to help out with the avalanche (no pun intended! LOL) of telephone calls and cell phoner's out there reporting crashes! Indeed we did have a massive amount of activity to deal with. In an 8 hour shift on 116 miles of I-44 we worked over 40 crashes. Some of them were even before the snow started.

At one point it was almost a complete white out with the snow blowing horizontal! I was sure glad to get off work yesterday!

It is funny how people forget how to drive from year to year????? graemlins/clonk.gif

We ended up getting about 6" total here yesterday. It was melting slowly even as it snowed, so it wasn't too bad. Kudo's to the Jeff City area DOT...them guys was all over it with snow plows. In Tulsa, whenever we get snow they just go out and throw sand all over everything...usually about 2 days later  Then when the snow melts, the left over sand is usually about as slick as the snow and ice was.
Paul, thanks for the offer, but I had lunch today with a couple of women from work who wasn't going to be with their families this year either. And since my thanksgiving got pretty well screwed by me being low man on the totem pole, I went ahead and worked today. Nothing wrong with making triple time when you have nothing better to do :D

Supv26, whereabouts in MO are you? Or more importantly, which areas do you work? ;) I had heard I-70 was total chaos yesterday. I spoke with a guy today who said that in 3 hours he had moved about 100 yards. Wrecks everywhere, cars laying on their back in the ditches around here. People seem to remember how to drive in the slick stuff after the 1st or 2nd snow of the year
