I bought a set of replacement support springs from Ricks (just the side springs) to replace one spring that broke on the right side passenger seat bottom. I went to install the replacement spring and noticed that the spring from Rick's has 8 loops and the spring I removed has 7. Their catalogue only shows one type of spring for sale for 67-69 (I have a 67 with basic interior).

I'll call Rick's tomorrow, but has anyone come across this problem? If so, did you install as is or cut them down to size.

I just received a set I ordered for my 67 coupe with standard interior from D&R. They matched the old ones exactly and fit like the originals.

I spoke to Ricks, the springs I got are the only ones they have. My trim tag has an 03D build date, I didn't think that was an early date. I thought maybe they changes their springs part way through 67.

67killerB, did you notice how many loops your replacement springs had?

I just checked the other pair I have for the other bucket seat, and I counted 8. Is it possible the one you took off was broken, or cut by someone along the line? Like I said, they matched the original ones perfectly. I don't have any doubt the ones I took off were original, because the seats had some kind of velour material hog ringed to the seat over the original vinyl, so I don't think anyone had ever touched the insides of these seats other than putting these fabric covers over the vinyl.

No, the one I took off definitely had 7 loops as does the left side spring that is still in tact. I guess I'll pull them both and replace both sides to keep it even and chock it up to unknown.

Seems I have a few unknowns with this car.......I'm sure I'll forget it all when it's on the road.
