Are your trim pieces original or re pops ? Reason is the original pins are a little stronger. Drill holes before you try to put the trim through the panel. Make sure the pins are straight and lay the holes out using the trim as a guide. You can use the pins to make small pilot holes or marks so you know where to drill. The pins on the forward bent section are the ones to watch. I think I had better luck placing those in first then the flat section. Be careful bending the pins once they are through the panel. You can loop the pins over using a needle nose otherwise they may break off if you just bend them over.

I second that comment on the original trim being stronger. I had all sorts of trouble with the single pin/nail on the rear of my reproduction trim. They weren't tacked in place very well.

Are these the panels made by Al Knoch? If so, I believe only the front 3 had to travel through the plastic, and there are already pre-drilled holes in the plastic for them. The rest should just push right through the vinyl and padding in the armrest. Some pilot holes might be helpful, and you should be able to see where most of the pins are supposed to go by looking at the back of the panels. Take your time, and it will look great!

I just refurbished a set of 67 deluxe panels. If you're removing the original trim first be careful prying the pins back to pull them out. After 37 years they can get brittle even though they are stronger than the repros. If the original trim isn't bent or scarred, I'd try reusing it as it is stainless and will cleanup real nice with a good polish. (I used Mothers Mag polish.) If you're reusing the CAMARO emblems as well, you're going to need new clips/tabs. I found it impossible to remove them without cutting them. The repro tabs aren't even close, so you may have to improvise.
