I want to install a 4 speaker stereo system in my Z28. My car did not have speakers in the kick panel, but I did see in the camaro build sheet where they offered kick panel speakers. However, they didn't say what size(4x6, 4x4 or 3-1/2"round etc). Has any one installed speakers to the kick panel, if so what dimensions and wattage. Is there depth at this point to accomodate a deep speaker. Any brand recommendation, size and wattage would be appreciated. Also would like to purchase a decent affordable am/fm stereo w/detached cd player that will fit the Camaro dash, any information and source would be appreciated. Early Thanks:

jlighthart, I have seen in Camaro parts catalogs 4"x6" speakers that go in the kick panels. The also offer a Kenwood stereo w/ remote cd changer. I haven't tried any of these yet.

I have Infinity 4"x6" plates mounted in the kick panel location behind the factory grille. It took a bit of massaging on the speaker frame and a shorter door hinge bolt but it was no big deal. The speaker mounts to the body, not the panel.

For my daily driver I bought a pair of 4x6 Pyramid 120W speakers off of ebay. The speaker grilles that come with them are not too far off from what the original grilles looked like. The original grilles had external holes for the four screws, where these new Pyramid grilles have the wire mesh covering the screw heads. The sound quality is average.
If you want really nice 4x6's then I'd recommend the Infinity Kappa plate speakers that have a separate small tweeter and a 4" round speader in the plate, but your looking at $80+ a pair. Usually the grilles for Kappas are oval looking.

Did they work out OK?
I just picked up another pair two weeks ago at a swap meet, but they have 5x7" speaker holes cut in them and they are in worse shape than that gold one you got.
Anybody need a pair of thrashed AC kickpanels with big speaker holes that have been painted 67 Bright Blue?
