Do you recommend painting faded/scratched interior parts, such as kick panels, rear tray, … or replacing?

If painting, what is a good quality spray can paint?

Thanks!

if painting the soft vinal, you should use a dye, not a regular paint. this can be foung in the local parts / performance shop. if painting the hard plastic, they have interior trim paint for that as well. that are a little different, but remember... clean, clean, clean is the key. years of (yuck) armor all must be removed to get your desired finish

I just finished repainting most of my interior and I found paint made by SEM is great. I have a 67 which has metal backs on the seat and I used this paint on them and them satin finish(also SEM) over it and it looks great. I was a little reluctant to paint plastic parts like kick panels and seat hinge covers but I used SEM plastic prep followed by the paint and satin and they look like new. Good luck.

Where did you get the SEM products?

One thing to look out for. I have redied flexible vinyl parts that were in good share and had them crack in a month or so from the chemicals in the die. Same thing goes for bumper filler panels.

SEM brand worked well for my door panels. Prep is where it makes a big difference. I bought mine at a local paintshop supplier.

I have used Plastikote plastic Bumper and Trim paint, from Pep boys. You should also adquire the adhesion promoter to avoid cracks. I have used it for exterior trim like bumpers and for interiors like kick panels without problems for years. Good luck.

SEM will give you outstanding results. They make a dye for vinyl and another for your hard plastic parts like kick panels. You should also get the prep they make, I believe it acts as a cleaner. All three are available in aerosol cans. Contact a paint store in your area that specializes in automotive paints to buy SEM products or drop me an e-mail and I will get their 800 number off of a can I have at home. Your parts will look like new, they will be the original parts so you know they fit, your cost will be minimal and parts I dyed eight years ago still look great.
