Hi:

I read somewhere that all 69 RS cars had a woodgrain dash whether they had standard or deluxe interiors. Is this true?

Thx, Pete

pete,
no, the right side wood grain was ordered with custom intereior or the special interior group.

Hi Angel:

So if my car is a 69 RS SS and it does not have either of those options on the window sticker is it most likely not original to the car. It is an X-11 car.

Thx, Pete

Pete, you might try posting your vin, trim tag and window sticker numbers in the tag team forum (and any drivetrain numbers). That way your car can be completely decoded and you will know exactly what did or did not come on your car originally.

The wood grain accents, which is wood grain on the horn shroud, wiper switch area, and radio area, was part of RPO Z23 Interior accents group. It would not have the wood grain over passenger side of the dash.

Thanks for the replies. My car is having some work done to it so I will post the numbers when I get the car back. My car has woodgrain on the glovebox, radio buttons and by the wiper and headlight buttons but I don't see it on tbe window sticker. It must have been added afterwards.

Thx, Pete

If you have a deluxe (custom) interior you got the woodgrain as part of the interior option so it would not be called out separately on the window sticker. If you have a standard interior you could not have the Z87 custom interior, but could get Z23 special interior. This option did not include the passenger side woodgrain.

Ok, now I am confused. RPO Z21 Special interior group inlcuded wood grain accents. I was under this impression that this included the steer wheel horn shroud (unless custom wheel ordered, deluxe), dash wood trim (radio and wiper area (total of 2)), and the passanger dash area which included a grip handle.

I have what I think is a Z21 option SS and it has all the above. Also have wood grain in my console.

What is the deal?

Blk69, Z21 is exterior trim package, Z23 is the interior trim package. It included wood grain accents on the wiper area, radio area, and horn shroud. It also included bright trim on the pedals, and a grab bar above the glove box.

The wood-grain appliques on the passenger side of the instrument panel, ashtray, and glove box door were part of the Z87 Custom Interior option (nice seats, molded door panels, extra insulation, etc.); there was no other way to get it.

Any suggestions on how to tell if a passenger side woodgrain dash is an origial installation (ie - not added by someone in the past)?
Any special bolts, sealer, etc?

Since you couldn't order it, just look at the trim code on the trim tag. If it shows one of the Custom Interiors like 720 you got it, if it shows a standard interior like 711 you didn't get it. Pretty simple.

My bad I meant Z23. I have a 1969 Feburary build date (1969) Norword car. I have wood grain accents on the passanger side area and a grab handle in the dash. I cannot believe someone would go to the trouble of putting it on there if it was not orginal.
