: 69 Ivory Interior

My car originally came with a standard Ivory (white) interior. The car is Hugger Orange with a white vinyl top. My interior has white door panels and seat covers with black dash, carpet and headliner.

I saw a Garnet Red '69 with a standard Ivory interior, but it had a white headliner.

Can anyone tell me what caused a headliner to be black vs white?

my friends originl ss350 had an all red interior car with white vinyl roof and white headliner. only thing is hers is a 68. you'd think it would be a red headliner.

I know this is of no REAL help, just another piece to chew on. My '69 CONVERTIBLE is Red w/ Ivory over black interior. The top is white (insides of all convertible tops are black) and the interior windshield pillar covers are Black. I'd think the windshield pillars should match the headliner, but what do I know? Maybe some supplier has the answer, or take the question to Camaro Research Group.

I haven't seen anyone selling white pillar moldings, so I think that even cars with white headliners had black pilar moldings.

Gheatly,

I own a Hugger Orange '69 with white standard interior and a white top, and my headliner is black, along with the dash. I have never personaly seen a white headliner on a stock '69.

Gheatly,

This has bugged me, so I looked it up in one of my refrance books (Illustrated Camaro Regognition Guide).

Apparently, the headliner colors available in '69 were: white, dark blue, dark green, black, red, and moss green.

Looking at a '69 Camaro order form, the only interior choices are color and style (standard, custom, and hounds tooth). I have found nothing that would let you choose the headliner color independant of the main interior color.

I have seen alot of 69's over the years, and the only car's that I have seen with a color matched headliner are red and green. We even have a blue/blue car in the family, and that headliner was black (in the condition it was in, I have no doubt it was the original piece. I supose the headliner color could have changed during diferent build periods.

Anyway, I believe white and blue interior cars came with black headliners. How about it, any other white or blue interior '69 owners out there?

Here is one for you, I have actually seen an original yellow houndstooth car. Has anyone seen orange houndstooth in anything other than a pace car? Out of all the articles on the Z-10 coupes, I have even never seen one of those with orange houndstooth.

I have a 69 with dark blue std. interior and it has the dark blue dash, rear package tray, carpet, console and headliner. This is in a LaMans Blue car. It all looks fine.

I have a Tuxedo Black car with white interior and black headliner. It is correct for my car. Can't say if white was optional but I doubt it.
