Hi everyone, did a search but couldn't find an answer, so here's my question.
I'm getting ready to install full floor pans. I tried to remove the kick panels, but they won't come out. Does the heater box need to be removed?
I guess while I'm at it, I'll also remove the brake pedal, emergency brake pedal and gas pedal lever. Sound right?
Thanks for your help.

You shouldnt have to pull the heater box but the kick's are a real SOB to get out anyway!! There is a ton of putty around the opening where they tie into the cowl air box and it sticks like cement  Make sure you have all the screws out and pull hard!
You will have to remove all the other stuff you mentioned.

Once you have the kick panels out you can remove the cables by taking the retainer clip off the back side. As far as I know, the knobs don't come off. I think they may be molded to the shaft?? Maybe somebody else knows.
I just vinyl painted my blue parts black while converting my interior. I just masked the shafts and painted the knobs separate from the kicks.

Yes, the knobs don't come off, you have to remove the opposite end of the cable. If your car has A/C, the RH kick panel can be next to impossible to remove without loosening up the heater core housing or destroying the the kick panel.

Struggle, swear, curse a few times, rest a while. Go back in the house and grab a cold one(or two). Go back out to the car and turn upside down and get mad all over again. Then pull real hard a few more times. They will come off eventualy. No problem at all!
You don't have to actualy remove the E-brake bracing in the way. You can remove the retainer and swing it out of the way.

My cable housings are all cracked up and nasty. Can you replace the cable only or do you have to replace the entire panel?

One of my cables had been cut off at the flapper door. I just cut about 1" off the cable sheath, and recurled the cable to fit over the linkage. I haven't reinstalled the cables, yet, so I'm going on blind faith that there will still be ample length on the cables to route them correctly.
