Is a replacement glass available for the original rearview mirrors? Mine is in real great shape, but the glass is shot.

Kevin:
They make a nice repo mirror for $50. That is what I used for my 68. It is available form any Camaro store from OER.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I wanted to try and keep it original, so I am trying to find the replacement. Many years ago I worked in an auto parts store and I thought we use to sell replacement inserts. Now I can't seem to locate any.

I took my glass out and had it resilvered. I had a 10" and a 12" which I had redone. The 10" turned out great, the 12" sucked. not sure what the difference was. Cost $10 each.

Unreal, Just a regular glass/mirror shop? Do they strip the old before resilvering?

I went to an antique store in Chattanooga, and asked who they used for old mirrors. They gave me a company in Nashville, and I gave them a friend who lives there, to hand deliver, and pick up. He never looked at the finished pieces, just picked them up, and brought them to me, on his next trip. (traveling salesman) When I saw them, I called the plating shop, to complain. They said the glass was the problem. However, I think they did not remove the old silvering.
If I had it to do over, I'd deal personally with the company, and ask lots of questions.

I'm OK, as the 10" turned out well. The 12" was on my car, when I got it, but I've been told "no" 69s had 12" from the factory. Mine might have been a replacement off a B body, or something. It is definately an OEM piece, (Guide USA, grey rubber surround, and polished stainless.

Canyou pass on to me via email the name and address of the company in TN that does this. I did replace my mirror with a repro, but would not mind having the glass redone.

Thanks.

I can look for the receipt, but I would not send a mirror to them, without making sure they will properly prepare the surface. i considered buying a repop ($30 on ebay) and switching the glass to the original body.
