Has anyone ever use the reproduction sill plates available at places like Rick's? $40 for the original GM's and $23 for the repo's.

Is it worth spending almost double for the originals?

repros, like 90% of reproduction parts, are garbage

Mine came from Year One I believe. They were with the car when I bought it and they're just like originals. I have no idea if they're repros or not but like I said, they're identical to originals.

The only difference I have ever seen in repro and orig is the coach plate has 2 pinhead rivits holding it on, on the orig's and the repro's are glue'd on without the rivits. Don't know if the repro's I've seen are OER or what brand.

I ordered the repros from Rick's, they even advertise them as better than GM originals / Superior quality repros. I'm very satisfied with them appart that they cost $15 less each.

The repro's are very shiney and thinner gauge metal. The first time your seat belt retractor doesn't take the belt all the way in and you close the door on the chrome belt end, you will get a nasty dent in the repro's. Obviously, I have had experience with this one.
