Do most replace the pad above the headliner?
(between headliner and roof, between braces)

I don't see replacements in the catalogs, but I don't want to leave old stinky material in there.

Has anyone used Dynamat?

Thanks

i just replaced the headliner two day ago. i used a thin high density foam (1/2") that had a cloth liner adhered to it. I glued it to the roof before I put the liner back in. the insulation effect from noise is great. I imagine that the rain noise will also be seriously lessened.

I did on my cars and would do it again despite the removal of the old one being such a messy job. One of the best parts of a new interior is the like-new smell you get - and you won't get it if you have dried-out thirty year old insulation in it. I also enjoy the benefits descibed by "Pink68".

I would suggest you go with the pad, it may be more work but worth it all.

dang , that is a great idea, I never even thought of padding the headliner!, mine doesnt have anything (or it rotted away) if it did.
I'm going to use that when I do mine later on this spring!, thanks!

correct me if I am wrong, but I think that Dynomat crap is for padding from superloud audio systems to keep things from vibrating ?

That padding thing is a good idea. What kind of glue did you guys use? I plan on doing my headliner when the weather gets warmer around here. My worst fear is doing the headliner then having the glue give when the car sits in a parking lot in 90 degree heat as the sun beats down on the metal roof. I only want to do the headliner once. I am thinking contact cement would hold under the heat conditions but I don't know if the smell of the glue would be present if the car sat in the hot sun a while
