I have noticed that I have white spots on my white top. I feel they are from rubbing compound or a buffing compound from when I bought it six months ago. I have had the top down, but the weather dictates other now. I have tried the top quality (Mopar) top cleaner, which I was told was the best. A tooth brush and thirty minutes bairly removed the first of many spots. Someone told me 100% mineral spirits and follow with a shiny Vinyl protectant. Any suggestions>

I've been chasing this too. In my case there are mildew spots. I've tried all the cleaners and even used a medium bristle brush to scrub. While the top is sure clean and better, it's not what I want. You don't want to use any bleach based whitener. I'm going to try Oxiclean which is not bleach based. In the end, I may have to re-dye the top.If I find a good dye I'll post back.

A couple of thoughts that may help. I have had very good success on my white top using Bleche-White (sp?). This is the stuff nearly every Checker, PepBoys etc sells to whiten whitewalls on tires. Be careful and avoid getting on your paint. I usually do this in the garage to avoid wind and wet the paint down first and cover with a towel just to be safe. Spray on and work in with a brush like you would use to do dishes.
Second, if you get to the point where you want to dye, SEMS makes a product called TOPPER which is a vinyl die. I used it on my top and it looks great but I have had a little peeling where the top folds in the area above the quarter panel (the area that makes the blind spot when you look out your rear view mirror). The rest of the top looks AS NEW! and I will try and reapply this spring as I may not have had it super clean. If you use this product, they recommend using one of the foam brushes to apply. I am pretty sure you can find SEMS by doing a search on the internet under that name or write to me and I will get their phone number for you.
If you find another way to clean the top and it comes out great, please write to me and let me know what you did!

I don't have a better answer, maybe the oxiclean as Rick suggests... I will caution you to read the Wesley's lable before using "Bleche-White"! It chased me away! Bleach in any form is corosive and unless completly washed off it will slowly do damage... Sometimes drastic measures are needed though!

Yes, I remember a while ago there were psts on this subject and a consensus not to use any bleach based product like Bleche-White. The stitching can weaken. I also thought Sems was a discontinued product.

Clear reflections glass cleaner should work or any type of foaming glass cleaner might work we use it on vinyl tops for caddies and such. Don't laugh it just may suprise you. But try a hidden spot first

Dennis and Rick, thanks for the replies to my post, I should have stated more strongly that these were steps to take if you were out of options. I was down to either dying my top or replacing it as it looked horrible after the rest of the car was redone. So my gamble was to blow $15 on the SEMS and see if it worked and if not, spend $100s for a new top. The Bleche White is a last ditch effort also. I agree Rick D that I would not make this part of my regular maintainence routine on the top.
