Attempting to remove my early style kick panels fronm my 69 Yenko Camaro with no luck (car is not disassembled - carpet pulled back). One of the previous owners installed speakers in these panels. There are two lips on the duct that must clear the hole in the car side panel. I can get the first lip out (not a full lip only about 3/4 around the duct) but cannot get the last lip past the car cut out. Started with the passenger side have not tried the driver side - appears I will need to remove parking brake bracket for that one. Any hints would be appreciated. Very frustrated! Thanks

RVOR,

You may or may not need to remove the parking brake assy. The drivers side seems easier to get out for some people, including myself.
The passenger side is another ball of wax altogether. Seems it's never gonna come out but it will. Mine was the same way and if you do a search here, you're not alone. It just takes some careful patience!

Good luck!

Funny, the passenger side was the easiest for me. The driver side was a pain in the $#@. I had to take the park brake assembly out completely. The pass side only required taking the glove box compartment out.

That inner lip is an interference fit and a pain. Watch out for your knuckles when it pops free. How do I know this! I had to remove the parking brake braket. Also, when I reinstalled, I trimmed about 1/8-1/4" off that inner lip and it slid in easily.

Taking them out is no piece of cake. I agree with the other posts, that the parking brake gear must come out to remove the left side, and the right side will come out with some patience. BUT! Have you considered how you are going to put them back in with the sealer around the kick panel. What a mess! Sealer everywhere but where it's supposed to be. The first time you wash the car you will see how much it leaks. Not if! How much! There have been others who have successfully done this. Another BUT! It's easier to remove the heater box to get this right. Besides, you will be able to clean out all of the garbage that has found it's way down into the heater core area. It's not that big a job.
Just my 2 cents.
Thanks
Jim
