I know you guys probably remember me telling you about the junk yard up the road crushing all the old cars. Well I talked the guy into selling me all the 70-early 80,s camaro,s and firebird and trans am,s for a $125.00 each, keep in mind these cars are junk yard cars some parts are missing, but all in all they are in good shape. My question is in the near future do you think these cars will bring some money for parts, like the 69 and 68, so to speak, there are around 35-40 of them and some good restorable bodies,so what do you fellows think?

there is a strong following for these cars (for some reason unknown to me the smokey&the bandit ta craze lives on)
I wouldn't think they'll be the same as the first gens, but I'd wager they'll be appreciating in value to some extent, just depends on who wants them and what they'll pay
hence the reason I am trying to buy a 2nd 89 TurboTA
not my fave body . . . but rare enough to worth something someday

I think so. First Gen's are getting too expensive although there are lots more repro parts for them than for second gen's.
If I had to choose, I'd go for the earlier Camaros without the large bumpers. Pre-74?
FYI the lower door panels, the part with armrest and map pockets is not available from anyone at this time. The doors have three sections on the early years, a top middle, and lower section.
Any inst panels with factory gages would be a good thing, and conversion parts to auto or stick.

Maybe not in the near future,...... But eventually they will probably have value. Depends on how long you're willing to wait. Without going into an economics\rate of return\ v.s. holding period lesson here, the market will bear the demand eventually.....Maybe...
Sounds like a Vegas decision to me.
Ask yourself why are they getting rid of them?

I would think the trans am parts will be your best bet. Can they be stored in a indoor area? I always thought T/A's were kind of "over the top" cool. I have a friend that has about 80 or so thunderbirds on his farm. Man, do they take up room. Every year, he loads up his truck and drives up to Hot August Nights in Reno and sells parts...I don't think he does it for the money, he does it for the fun. :D Boy I hope you have the space. Good luck on your venture, and thanks for saving those old rides for us... graemlins/thumbsup.gif Zuma smile.gif

Yes. I have a lot of 74 Z-28 parts and can get a premium for them. You are doing the right thing.
