View Full Version : Glove Box Door ?

Are there supposed to be any holes in the glove box door('69)? Mine has 2 holes in odd places and I don't think they were there for emblems. I'm about to get them welded up but want to make sure I won't need them for something down the road.

Or - as an alternative to welding - does anyone know where I can get a new/good used door? I've checked all my catalogs and have not found one yet.

I think those holes, if they are spaced evenly at the top of the glove box, are for the hand bar. I have one on my '68.

No emblem holes in a '69 glove box door - the grab handle is in the main instrument panel, above the door opening.

No idea about the holes, but glove box doors are on E-Bay all the time. My car has the grab handle above the door, correct location.

Thanks everyone! After taking another look at the door I realized the prior owner drilled all the way through the door. If I want to fix it correctly it's going to take some welding and grinding on both sides - too much effort when good used doors are available. Time to shop!

if its a metal door why not just use the cheap and handy bondo theory if they are small holes that should do fine and just repaint..hehe..most people doing restorations have the odd can of bondo for those tiny dings lying around anyhow...hehe

anyhow just my thoughts on it

I thought about Bondo - but I hate to do a halfway job and I'm also afraid it will crack around the perimeter of the hole. These are a little over 1/4" holes.

Anyway - I found a good used door locally which I'll pick up tomorrow for less than it would cost me for welding.

yea 1/4" holes would be a bit too much to do the bondo thing hehe

but rssmith's idea is pretty clever too...but it only hides one side of the flaw unfortunately

but anyhow congrats on finding the new door..so now ya worries are solved anyhow hehe
