Hi All:
I'm going to be doing an auto shifter and console install in my '68 shortly so I was looking through the assembly manual the other day at how the console assembles. I have a question on the assembly portion of the console. It looks at though the door hinge screws down through the top half to the bottom half of the console- that I get- but, if that's the case, how do you hook the spring to the console door stop lever? If the two halves are put together and the hinge is screwed down, how would you get under the top half to go about attaching the spring (from the seat belt holder to the door stop lever). Do you attach the spring to the lever before you screw the lever to the door?? Maybe I'm missing something simple here but in trying to figure it out, it's just not making sense to me???

Thanks

My upper console is sitting in my lap right now! Just got done restoring it and havn't put it in yet 'til I get new carpet.

Anyways, the door hinge has the three holes on the side of the hinge that mounts to the console.
The middle hole is for the screw that holds the hinge and door to the upper console. The two side holes mount through the hinge and upper console to tighten into the lower console.

Next the spring, Your going to have to remove the upper half from the lower half of your console to even think about getting to the spring. HP books's Camaro Owners Handbook was helpful for me in the dissasembly and restoration process!
