I understand that the '68 and '69 Camaros came with shoulder belts while very few '67s had them. I have my '67 interior all apart and would consider putting shoulder belts in like the '68 or '69 if it would work and look reasonably stock. I would really like the additional safety. My question is would anyone have the page from the '68 or '69 assembly manual showing how the shoulder belts were installed in a CONVERTIBLE? Could I get a fax? Many thanks for any help!!

Denver, they were rare on 68/69 too. The Fisher chassis manual has some drawings of how they hook up, but the belts and ends are not the same as the coupes. I plan on fabing some ends, making some measurements and sending some coupe one off to Snake Oyl to have them re-webbed. It's a long way off on the task list though.

There is an article in the current C.H.P. on this topic. Good article, can't remenber how much the convertible version would be. Check out the magazine article.

I saw the article in CHP but we convertible owners don't have the hard top to mount into. I read an article on another Camaro page that the shoulder belts for '67 were ultra rare and were a really crummy design. It sounds like the belt was mounted somewhere back by the rear window crank and since it was one long belt, you had to lay it on the floor when not it use and it was always in the way of anyone trying to get into the back seat and then it didn't stay over your shoulder but fell down around the waist. A thought I want to look at for my convertible and others may consider too, my '68 Shelby has retractable belts (the male side) mounted above the rear window crank. Once everyone is in the car, the front passengers pull the belt forward over their shoulder and attach into a female buckle. So your car would have two female buckles, one for the lap belt and one for the shoulder belt. I'm guessing I can probably find a decent set of used black belts at the junk yard that would look close. They would need to be retractable, they would need to be long enough and I need to see if there is a really good mounting spot on our Camaros. I will post if I can find something to work.
