View Full Version : Seat Belt Retractors
1967 Panther Mar 24th, 03, 07:35 AM Antone ever seen these retractors that are just a stainless, spring loaded cylinder with with a metal support. I think they were uses in early 67 only. I have quite a few of them and thinking of just pitching them..
KevinW Mar 24th, 03, 11:00 AM Gary, don't do that, I could use them! smile.gif They were a dealer add on for the longer belts. Drop me a line and we can disuss offline.
Thanks, Kevin
1967 Panther Mar 24th, 03, 02:02 PM Really?? Like for overweight people? How do they work? Thanks
I sent the paddle in a big brown envelope, so keep a look out for it.
Geezer Mar 24th, 03, 03:24 PM If they’re chrome, that’s what I’ve been trying to find for a long time! If y’all can spare 1 at least, 3or4 would be fantastic! I’ll buy or trade. My 67 didn’t have the big plastic housing retractors, just the small dealer installed ones, and one was rusted beyond repair.
KevinW Mar 24th, 03, 05:13 PM Gary, the long belts just kinda flopped around, so GM made these spring loaded rolls, then were copied by other manufacturers. You wound up the spring, then slipped the belt under the two tabs and then let the bar wrap the belt around the chrome spool. Then the belt would be shorter and not be in the way. There are always a bunch on ebay, but I was not ready to buy, but since you are looking tho get rid of them ... smile.gif
I will let you know when the paddle arrives. Thanks! graemlins/beers.gif
Too bad you do not have a convertible. The only 67 part I have is a clear qtr window.

67RS RAG Mar 24th, 03, 05:41 PM Panther where did you get them I would buy one?
Kevin which quarter window is it? E-mail me let me know how much you want for it. graemlins/beers.gif
Unreal Mar 24th, 03, 06:32 PM I've got one in one of my boxes if someone needs only one. email me.
KevinW Mar 25th, 03, 05:33 AM The most I would need is eight smile.gif 2 cars, X 4 long belts. I have one already, so...
The number is 7, 7 the number shall be, thou shall say 7 is the number ... :D
Any Monte Python fans out there?
Anywho, here is a CRG bulletin about them.

1967 Panther Mar 25th, 03, 07:46 AM Geezer, ya, they're chrome..I found 5 more. Two of them are still attached to the belt so I see how they work. They work pretty good, but the ones not attached to a belt seem weak but like KevinW said I think they have to have a belt on them and tentioned. What are they worth? I don't know..Let's start the bidding! smile.gif
Geezer Mar 25th, 03, 08:30 AM It looks like they’re going for $10 each on epay. Since I’m cleaning out the garage and shed, getting rid of all of the 68, 69, and spare 67 parts as well as stripping and cutting a couple of 67 parts cars, it would be nice if I could trade something. But either way, cash or trade I could use 1 to 5 of them.
Gary Dorion Mar 25th, 03, 06:41 PM Classic Industries sells them for $29/pr.
1967 Panther Mar 25th, 03, 07:50 PM Thanks a lot, Gary..you just put me out of business!
Mr. C Mar 26th, 03, 10:13 AM They seem to be like bellybuttons!!!
