I just bought a 69 Camaro. The dash guages are very green, and the console lights up white (it has the gear indication). Is this what came from the factory? I have not been to a cruse in at night to check someone else console.

No, the console should lite up green. Your "dial" indicator plate must have the flouresent green paint rubbed off of it, or has been changed out. You can buy Krylon paint "California Colors" flouresent green paint to paint the ends of the dial plate to make your console lights shine green again. Hope this helps.

Actually the console lights around the shift indicator lens will never be as green as the dash lights. This is because the shift plate indicator is much more illuminated with light than the dash is. The console gauges if you have them are the dimmist of all the interior lights to the point of being almost impossible to read at a glance at night. You can make the shift indicator lights GREENER by replacing your shift lens with a new one as already mentioned.
When I installed my R700, I replaced the gear indicator lens with one from SHIFTWORKS that shows all 4 forward gears and I noticed immediately that it is illuminated white. At first I wasn't to thrilled about it, but at least I can see my console gauges a little bit better!!!

Gee, I must be lucky. My dash lights are RED! Looks pretty cool, I assumed along time ago it wasn't stock, but wasn't sure, I'd never had a car this old before. At least now I know the truth!! KZ

Could someone help me out here. My guages are green as they should be, but the heater control lens is clear and bright white (not green) and I don't know if this is correct or not.

Kurt - If you remove the lens (knobs off, two clips on sides) there should be a slot cut into the bottom of the housing behind the lens. On my original '69 there is a small green plastic plate that fits inside this slot. The light bulb mounts behind this and thus the green illumination. Yours is probably missing?? I have seen quite a few that don't have this but have a blue strip painted on the bottom of the lens. I believe this is actually for other models (Novas, etc.) Take it apart and check it out. If you have the slot but not the green plate, let me know cuz I might have an extra one laying around. Hope this helps.

My Console lights up kinda white. The background is sorta green and the letter are very white. I have seen the plates for sale in all the parts catalogs. Is there one manufacture that is better then the others?
As for the guy with red lights. How did you ever manage to get red lights? Blue might be cool.
