Are the remote mirrors the same for 67&68 except for the interior door bezel? Also I have found a 70 cutless has a very similar looking mirror could it be interchangable?

Pat,

67 Remote Mirrors are round. 68's and 69's are rectangular however, they ARE different. The 68's have two small drain holes located under the housing on either side. They also have an intermediate "collar" between the base and housing to adjust the angle of the mirror to get it parallel with the ground. 69's have one oblong drain hole loacted under the housing in the center and no intermediate "collar". There are other differences between the 68 and 69 mirrors, but mostly internal changes. The "oblong" drain hole style of mirror started production in July, 1968 so very late build 68 cars might have this style. There's also a possibility that very early 69 cars may have the 68 style as they were being phased out at around the August/September time frame.

The 70 mirror is the same basic style as the 69 unless you're talking about the "bullet" mirrors.

To add to what Ed said,

The 69 Camaro remote mirror is a one of a kind and was not used on other models. The 68 "3 piece" mirror can be used on other models because the middle piece (collar) allows the head to be rotated into different angles to fit other cars. It has multiple slots for the tangs inside it. The 69 F-body "2 piece" style has only 2 slots and 2 tangs, one on top and one on the bottom so it does not adjust the head angle so it only works on 69 F-bodies.

Did any of that make sense? graemlins/clonk.gif

Thanks, I have a 67 & 68 both with operator conv. group options. I need a 68 remote mirror and didnt know if it was similar to my 67 since it was of the romote variety. If anybody has an extra I'm in the market, its a nice car with a aftermarket mirror with "Made In Taiwan" stamped on the outside case! (Bad Wrong)
