I changed my weatherstrip around the door on both sides of my 68 and now I have to slam the door (really hard) to get the door to close.
The weatherstripping is in fine, it's not out of place at all. I thought it was cause it was fresh but this has been a problem for a year now.
Help...thanks a bunch

What brand of weatherstripping did you use? The old Soff Seal stuff was notorious for making the doors hard to shut.

I believe it was that "OE" stuff in the yellow and clear packaging. Same stuff I used for my trunk which worked out great.

Hey green have you tried to use armor all on the seals.I have metro seals and they suggest you wipe all there seal with this it helps to soften them as well as seal better.

The Metro's are much softer to begin with, I've used them on my past few cars and had good luck. Some say the fit isn't as good and that they don't hold up?? Mine are holding up pretty well so far!

Thanks!

I used soft seal on my 69. One side closes with easy click but the other needs to be slammed with both hands. I'll have to try the armourall trick.

I have a 67 Camaro and in 1990 when it was restored I installed Soft seal rubbers. My passenger door would never close all the way, I had to rip the door rubber off to get the door to close. When Metro came out I bought a set up at Carlisle and installed on my passender door, it closed like I had no rubber installed. I will never buy Soft seal rubbers again. I remember Metro had a booth set up at Carlisle and had Soft seal rubber and their rubber sitting next to each other so you could compare, Metro is a lot softer than Soft seal. I'm in the middle redoing my car right now and got Metro rubbers from D+R Classics (I had to specify Metro) Ricks didn't have Metro (he should) This was my experence with door rubbers, sincerely Steve

Call the number off of the website and they can give you the name of a local warehousing dealer to buy from.
Good Luck,
