Hello all,

I have my dash out for a re-wire job and a little bit of touch up. Before I reassemble everything, I wanted to make sure both the Speedo and fuel gauge were working. Does anyone have any ideas how to test these? I have the fuel sender out as well. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

If you do a search for this topic I think you'll find some good info. I can summarize from memory by saying that he fuel tank sending unit should span from zero ohms to 90 ohms. You'll need a volt-ohm or DVM to take the measurement. I can't recall if 90 ohms is full or empty. Hopefully the topic search will tell the tale.

If the sending unit gives the proper readings, hook it up and move the sending unit through the range and see that the fuel guage spans from E-F.

I hoked up the sender to my volt meter and it seemed to work. I want to try and hook it to the gauge now. Do I just run 12 volts right to the gauge and connect the sending wire and ground both the gauge and sending unit?

Pardon my ignorance.

Yes, that will check it - just make sure you put the 12 volts on the gauge terminal that takes the purple (ignition) wire in the connector, not on the terminal that takes the tan (sender)wire in the connector. If you put 12 volts on the sender connector, you'll fry the gauge.
