I have a set of (I think) original "68 pillar mouldings. It seems to be covered with heat molded vinyl. I also have a set of reproduction pillar mouldins which are molded in color in urethane. How did Camaro mouldings look like originally?

just as you discribed with heat molded vinyl, foam backing, with metal reinforcement inbetween.

Check the repop. Isn't it about 1/4" - 3/8" shorter than the original?

Yea , What's up with these repro pillars? I got a pair of the chrome ones to replace my original chrome ones but I also have the chrome piece that runs across the top of the door and it's about 3/8" wider than std black trim and I could not get the repro pillars to fit. They came in an OER box but they would not work with my deluxe interior. Anybody else have this problem?

I do not know about other OER parts. I bought a pair of OER full quarter panels for my 67 coupe. They had a lot of bad waves in the sail and on the top side of trunk lip to the tail pan. The recessed area for the tail lites were so far in. They had a lot of small dents from inside out. On sides of panels. When lite housing put in place. You could see a 3/16th gap around housing. Needless to say. I send them back.
A place called Gear Box Grannyie's in Ohio. Found me a pair of NOS quarters. They fit to the T. 1 from Ohio the other from Texas. $1,300 for the pair. Have not bought any OER parts sence. www.gearboxgrannie.com (http://www.gearboxgrannie.com)

I bought the OER pillar moldings for my '69 and took them back. They did not fit well at all and the metal strip was too short for the screws to go thru. I cleaned up my originals and dyed them black and they look great.
