I just got SEM Plastic Prep, No sand Primer and Landau Black paint from Eastwood. I am planning on giving my dash carrier and a few other plastic parts a facelift. Any tips before I get started? Directions look pretty straight forward. How many coats?

Thanks

Bob

Bob, First make sure the surface is clean and dry (try TSP to get all the old plastic and vinyl treatment off it). Spray the SEM on first, and while it's still wet, apply the color dye with several light coats. This has worked well for me, but I'm sure someone may have another way to apply it. Good Luck...Mike

I washed everything with soapy warm water and then let it dry. Next I wiped everything down with rubbing alcohol and then shot it with the SEMS. Can't complain. I did however, buy the GM Urethane primer (dash pad, windlace, others) and Plastic Primer (dash carrier, kick panels, etc.). I thought that the SEMS covered well and only used 1-1/2 cans of the semi-gloss black.
