: Extra Dash holes

I have two small holes near the top of my 68's dash that I cannot figure out what they are they for. There is one hole on each side. The drivers side is above the washer control and below the dash pad trim. There is a small hockey stick shaped indention and the hole is near what would be the handle. The passenger side hole is in the same location only reversed. Any ideas? Some type of trim?

Hi rs1968ss, don't you hate it when it seems like nobody's going to respond. I have no idea what they could be for. I have a 67. It could be 68 only or??? Does it look factory? I don't think I've ever seen a 68 with anything there either though.

WOW! Someone responded! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif Yes they do look factory. That is the strange part. The drivers side has an indention about 3" long and about 1/2" wide above the wiper switch with one hole near the inside end of the indention. If that makes any sense. It almost looks like there should be some type of molding there but I have never seen anything there.

Is your car a deluxe interior car?
It may be for the chrome molding....

Yes it is a deluxe interior. Maybe I goofed with the chrome trim molding. It was my understanding that the chrome molding attached to the dash pad but not to the dash itself. Is this incorrect? Do some of the tabs on the molding go into the dash?

rs1968ss, my 68 has deluxe interior, last month I installed a repro dash pad and the moulding was clamped to the old dash pad when removed from the car. I had to remove it and install in the new dash pad prior to installation, so the trim mounts in the dash pad, not attached to the metal of the car.

rs1968ss, I mean attached to the pad, not the metal. I edited the prior reply so I can be understand. Excuse my english, here I learn about Camaro and get to practice the very important language at the same time.

Thanks for clarifying it. Now I'm back to wondering what the holes are for! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I looked at my 68 deluxe interior, just now.Above the wiper switch is a hockey stick looking indent, right about where the bend is ,there is a hole thru the pad with a screw in it to hold the pad to the dash.I would assume that at the factory they just ran screws where they saw fit,to hold the pad to the dash. Therefore your hole is in a different spot.I also have a hole, about the same height, just a inch or so from the center dash trim, there's no screw in it,dont know what it's for.
