i took apart my door today to try and find the mirror adjustment knob and i did and when i put it back in its place i rolled down the window and it hit the cable for the knob.. how do i go about fixing this and where should the cable go?

It's hard to explain, and I cannot get a picture, but, inside the door upper right, toward the hinge there is a clip bent into the doors sheetmetal that the cable clips behind, to hold it away from the glass.
