View Full Version : Seat choices
L e f t c o a s t Dec 18th, 01, 09:09 PM I was wondering if anyone knows of a good used seat that comes out of a newer car (like acura, honda, or ?) that installs in a 67 coupe original standard seats? I was thinking that searching wreckyards might turn up a good quality seat for a reasonable used price. Any thoughts or comments are welcome.........

Camaro6666 Dec 18th, 01, 09:27 PM Yup im in the same boat too! I cant stand my stock buckets rattling any more. Those stupid hog pins are making my ride sound bad from the inside. And also my car finally can canyon carve so i really am in need of something that can support me better.(im sick of sliding around) thanks!

BrianW Dec 18th, 01, 09:27 PM I have 93-94 Honda Prelude seats in my '68 Camaro and they look perfect. In fact the guy in the paint shop thought they were out of a later model Camaro.
I made up sheetmetal brackets to mount them using the original mounting points in the floor so there are no modifications to the car.
They are also quite comfortable.
Poor mans Recaros I call them
I could email you a pic if you are interested

TEAM CANADA Dec 18th, 01, 09:39 PM I think mine are 93-94 Mustang leather seats, from a GT, almost exact dimensions, and I used a different headrest, they look Like Recaros, actually I think they were designed by Recaro for Ford.... I can send you a pic if you want.
Racer#00 Dec 19th, 01, 06:04 AM I'm putting a set of 84 Fiero seats I'm in my 67. I paid $25 for them out of the paper. They have speakers in the headrest and sit lower than the original seats. They are comfortable.
The front mounting holes line up perfect. I need to do some work on the rear holes. Check out this link from E-bay for a picture. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=599243207
Mine are gray, but I plan on having them recovered in black.

BrianW Dec 19th, 01, 07:06 PM I used 93/94 Honda Prelude seats in my '68 and they look so authentic that my paint shop man thought they were out of a later model Camaro.
I fabricated sheet metal brackets to mount them using the original mounting points (and bolts) so there are no bodywork modifications.
They look and feel fine - Poor man's Recaros I call them.
If you are interested I could email you a pic

cosmic Dec 20th, 01, 08:41 PM long shot here...
While in Japan, I was at the salvage yard looking for some good pieces when the guys brought in a dead Isuzu Impulse Turbo..about 86-90 model. Anyway it had velour Recarro Buckets from the factory and I got em for 40 bucks! I once drove 17 hours straight in those Recarros in my old '57 bug and felt energized when I got out of the car. Good seats DO make a difference. Too bad they are gone now...
The honda seats are really comfy and have the lumbar and side support that you are looking for.
mark67ss Dec 21st, 01, 08:00 AM hey Brian, Why not post the pictures here for everyone to see. I bet there is a lot of interest in the seats and how they look in your car.
BrianW Dec 21st, 01, 02:27 PM My posting ability is not quite up to that but I could email if you are interested
